APIC26 Annual Conference Learning Objectives 

The goals for APIC’s Annual Conference are for participants to share and discuss research findings in the fields of infection prevention and control and healthcare epidemiology, to exchange ideas and insights, and to network for collaboration, career and professional development.  

Learners will: 
 

  • Integrate best practices and emerging research in infection prevention and healthcare epidemiology to strengthen evidence-based decision making and patient safety across care settings.
  • Evaluate current and emerging strategies in key infection prevention domains, including antimicrobial and diagnostic stewardship, disinfection and sterilization, education, training and competencies, emergency preparedness, environment of care, implementation science and research, information technology and surveillance, leadership development and program management, occupational health and wellness, public health and health policy, quality assurance and performance improvement, and CDC/NHSN reporting and updates.
  • Apply quality improvement and performance measurement approaches to enhance infection prevention program effectiveness and demonstrate measurable outcomes.  
  • Strengthen interdisciplinary communication and collaboration through inclusive team-based discussions and shared learning across diverse healthcare settings.
  • Enhance professional competence and leadership capacity through exploration of tools and strategies that support education, mentoring, and program management excellence.  

CE Credits  
Attendance of live events or review of recorded programs in their entirety and evaluation completion is a prerequisite for receiving CE credits. Evaluations for each session attended (whether live or on-demand) must be completed by September 30, 2026 to receive your certificate of completion. After satisfying all evaluation requirements, a certificate of completion will be available. 

Continuing Nursing Education 
The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) designates this activity for a maximum of 90 ANCC Contact Hours for attendees participating in-person, virtual or viewing sessios on-demand.

Infection Prevention Units (IPUs) 
One Infection Prevention Unit (IPU) is defined as one hour of time spent on an educational experience. Attendees of the APIC26 Annual Conference may earn up to 10 IPUs for attending the conference live or virtually. The conference content provides attendees with the opportunity to earn additional Infection Prevention Units (IPUs) for viewing the 60-minute on-demand sessions.  Please note that IPUs are only provided for sessions that are a minimum of one hour, however, two 30-minute sessions can be combined for a total of one IPU.
