Session Description: This presentation will discuss the importance of ensuring that the perfect trifecta (product, practice, person) exists for the success various clinical practices that are key to preventing infections. Ensuring that the right product is being used, in the correct way according to the instructions for use (IFUs), and the most appropriate clinical practice according to guidelines, creates a robust practice with infection prevention at the forefront. From central line care and maintenance to surface disinfection, the learnings from this presentation can be applied to various clinical practices to ensure the risk of healthcare acquired infections is mitigated. The target audience for this presentation is mainly newer infection preventionists, but any career stage can benefit from this presentation. The confusion around instructions for use, multiple recommendations for clinical practices, and copious amounts of products available on the market really highlights the need for education for infection preventionists around these topics and how to ensure the most appropriate products, practices and people for the facility/unit/system are selected by looking at the whole picture.
