Session Description: In this presentation, attendees will learn about the key takeaways from the 2025 APIC MegaSurvey and how those compare with the 2015 and 2020 MegaSurvey results. Participants will also be presented with key information regarding APIC’s recent IP attrition, retention, and burnout research.


Sara Reese

Director of Research, APIC

Sara Reese, PhD, MPH, CIC, AL-CIP, FAPIC is the Director of Research at APIC’s Center for Research, Practice and Innovation (Arlington, VA), with extensive experience in infection prevention leadership across major healthcare systems including Intermountain Health, Swedish Medical Center, and Denver Health. She has led pandemic response efforts, driven healthcare-associated infection reduction initiatives, and contributed to the field through mentorship, publications, and national conference presentations.

Monika Pogorzelska-Maziarz

Professor, Villanova University

Dr. Pogorzelska-Maziarz is a trained Epidemiologist and Health Services Researcher. She is as a Professor at the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing at Villanova University. Additionally, she is also an Associate Professor at the Jefferson College of Population Health. Monika earned her Master of Public Health and her PhD in Epidemiology at Columbia University. Monika has authored over 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters and other publications. She currently serves as a section editor of the American Journal of Infection Control.

Lisa Hall

Professor in Epidemiology, University of Queensland

Dr Lisa Hall is a Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Queensland and a consultant epidemiologist with the Guidance Group, Melbourne Health. Lisa is a health services researcher with significant policy experience at statewide and national levels. She is internationally recognized for her innovative and collaborative research underpinned by her expertise in epidemiology, implementation science and evaluation. Lisa’s work focuses on the interface between evidence, policy and implementation to improve the surveillance and prevention of infections and antimicrobial resistance.

Nicole Henry

Infection Preventionist, NYC H+H - Bellevue

Miss Henry is a dedicated Infection Preventionist with NYC Health + Hospitals, bringing extensive experience in public health and infectious disease prevention. She previously served as a Public Health Advisor at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, contributing to COVID-19 response efforts and other infectious disease initiatives. As a published author and dynamic speaker, she has presented at both national and international infection prevention conferences, sharing expertise on innovative strategies to reduce healthcare-associated infections and improve patient safety. As an active member of the APIC Greater New York Chapter and the National APIC Health Equity Committee, Miss Henry is passionate about advancing equitable infection prevention practices and positively contributing to the infection prevention community. When not immersed in the world of epidemiology and healthcare quality improvement, she enjoys exploring diverse cuisines and traveling to experience global cultures. Miss Henry strives to make infection prevention both impactful and engaging.

Ekaete Usoh

Infection Preventionist, Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center

Ekaete Usoh, MPH, MSc, CIC, VA-BC is an Infection Preventionist at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, where she leads and supports infection prevention initiatives across the emergency department, medical-surgical, and critical care units. She began her infection prevention career with Alberta Health Services and expanded her experience in pediatric acute care at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Ekaete contributes to regional preparedness as part of a Level 2 Special Pathogen Treatment Center and through participation in the Los Angeles County Emerging Infectious Disease Working Group. She serves as Membership Chair for the Greater Los Angeles APIC chapter and is a member of the APIC Health Equity Committee, where she is a lead author for the CLABSI section of a national resource focused on integrating health equity into infection prevention. Her work centers on healthcare-associated infection prevention, quality improvement, and advancing equitable practices in infection prevention.
