Sustaining Excellence, Expanding Access: CBIC’s Strategic Vision for Certification
Session Description: As infection prevention and control continues to evolve across care settings and global contexts, certification must balance rigor, relevance, and accessibility. This session will explore CBIC’s strategic plan to sustain the excellence and credibility of its certifications while expanding global recognition and access.
Jessica Dangles
Executive Director, CBIC
Jessica Dangles is the Executive Director with the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC). Prior to working with CBIC, she was the Accreditation Standards Manager at the American College of Surgeons within the Division of Research and Optimal Patient Care. Jessica holds a Bachelor of Arts in Women and Gender Studies, a Master of Science in Human Resources, a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, and her Master of Business Administration from the University of Illinois. She also holds her Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential. She believes certification is essential to patient safety and public protection and enjoys working with the CBIC board and staff to positively impact infection and infection control practices.
Gail Fraine
System Director Infection Prevention, Ascension Saint Thomas
Gail Fraine, RN, MMHC, BSN, CIC, LTC-CIP, is the System Director of Infection Prevention for Ascension Saint Thomas in Nashville, Tennessee where she manages nine urban and rural healthcare facilities. She is a member of APIC and the Middle Tennessee APIC Chapter and has served in various leadership roles for APIC at the local and national levels. For National APIC, Gail served as a Board of Director, the Policy/Bylaws Committee, the Audit Committee, and chaired the Annual Conference Committee. She was a member of the first Test Development Committee for Long-Term Care Certification. Gail received the Tennessee Hospital Association Patient Safety Leadership Award for recognition in the reduction of healthcare associated infections. Gail is a board director for the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC). Education: Master in Management for Healthcare, Vanderbilt University Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Belmont University Associate Degree in Nursing, Arkansas State University.
