Going Beyond Standards: Integrating Workflow Assessment, Formal Value Analysis, and Gown Design

Track:

Career Level:

Isolation gown selection should not rely primarily on material standards alone but should ensure performance in real-world clinical use. This requires consideration of three essential aspects: Workflow assessment, Formal Value Analysis (FVA), and gown design. Workflow assessments bring real-world risks and inefficiencies to light, while FVA ensures decisions deliver the right balance of safety, usability, and cost. Often overlooked, assessment of gown design is critical to address unmet needs, improving protection, comfort, and compliance in practice. Together, these elements empower infection prevention professionals to make more informed, evidence-based PPE decisions. In this session, we will review how the Ritmed AssureWear VersaGown Agile by Medicom applies this integrated approach—combining workflow-informed insights, value analysis, and purposeful design innovation to meet the evolving demands of healthcare environments.
